CityFibre joins SSE's Edge Plus

SSE Enterprise Telecoms has announced that CityFibre will be joining the ranks of its Edge Plus providers for Ethernet services. The deal is an extension of an existing network partnership and will increase presence for both companies in crucial geographies across the UK. CityFibre’s Ethernet services will be added to SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ price comparison tool LIVEQUOTE, which will offer more choice for customers when selecting a last-mile service provider.

Customers are demanding an easier way to procure Ethernet services. In an effort to diversify the choice of last-mile providers while offering reliable delivery, SSE Enterprise Telecoms has invested in systems and processes to ensure customers get a personalised service. Through LIVEQUOTE they’ll be able to order Ethernet services up to 1Gbps at the touch of a button, and 10Gbps will be offered on a bespoke basis.

The partnership offers cost efficiencies, as well as an alternative fibre last-mile provider with access to extensive CityFibre metro networks across 15 cities. six of their cities – Bradford, Sheffield, Leeds, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Edinburgh – are live today and available to quote and order via the portal. The remaining nine cities will be added to the platform over the coming months, giving customers further choice for metro city connectivity.

LIVEQUOTE will look to increase customers’ access to alternative last-mile partners, like CityFibre, that complements existing backhaul providers. SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ customers get best value for all their requirements with access to multiple quotes and orders from different providers to guarantee choice and flexibility.

Colin Sempill, Chief Executive at SSE Enterprise Telecoms said: “We’re on a mission to improve the way organisations buy network services. SSE Enterprise Telecoms and CityFibre have both invested substantially in UK fibre networks over the last ten years, challenging the status quo and developing a strong proposition in the market. It was essential to choose a like-minded partner to continue to deliver high quality connectivity services to the market, and CityFibre was a natural fit.”

Rob Hamlin, Commercial Director, at CityFibre said: “Partnering with SSE Enterprise Telecoms not only helps to meet increased demand and provide all-important choice in the market, but culturally, our two organisations are well suited. We share a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a need to disrupt the market for the benefit of our partners and customers. SSE Enterprise Telecoms’ customers will gain access to our differentiated 1Gbps and 10Gbps Ethernet services, and in return, CityFibre will be able to take advantage of the company’s extensive reach and customer base to increase connections across our full fibre network infrastructure.”
