Neil Watson, who worked within the Channel for over 16 years, has passed away after a short period of illness. Watson was Head of CityFibre’s Technical Service Centre and was a highly respected and well-liked industry figure.

Watson passed away on 26th December and CityFibre has said his death came as a great shock to all who knew him. A CityFibre spokesperson said, “He will be greatly missed by his colleagues, customers and industry peers and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.”

Elsa Chen, a long-term manager and friend, added, “Neil was part of our organisation for many years with his most recent position as the Head of our Technical Service Centre. The colleagues who worked closely with Neil remember him as a warm, caring, dedicated person with a great sense of humour and fun to be with.

“His sudden passing was a huge shock and sad loss to his family and colleagues, and to many customers who have also reached out to share their great memories of working with Neil over the years. We send our sincere condolences to all of Neil's family and friends and continue to support our colleagues at this sad time."

Watson joined Entanet’s senior management team in July 2006 as head of service before joining CityFibre in July 2019. He was also a Council Member at ISPA UK for over five years, where he helped set ISPA’s strategic direction.

CityFibre has said donations can be made to Compton Care, who cared for Watson towards the end of his illness. Anyone who wishes to do so can donate here.
