Marking National Apprenticeship Week, which has seen a symbolic Apprenticeship Torch taken on tour throughout the South of England, the award was presented to Tarlia at a ceremony organised by Swindon Borough Council, held at Swindon Town FC.
A customer service apprentice at Excalibur for the past nine months, Tarlia said: “I am thrilled to have won this prestigious award. Excalibur does everything and more to encourage me and my colleagues to take pride in our work. I enjoy working closely with our customers and want to give them the best quality support”.
James Phipps, CEO at Excalibur added “Tarlia is a very bright, conscientious hard worker who exemplifies the positive impact that apprenticeships and traineeships have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy. We are all extremely proud of her achievement and look forward to helping her grow her career with the structure that we have built at Excalibur that encourages our people to reach their full potential”.
It was Phipps in fact who suggested to Tarlia that she apply to Excalibur after meeting her by chance at a fund-raiser for Villiers Park Educational Trust. Through fair access, the Trust helps able young people develop a passion for learning and the study and life skills to ensure they reach their full academic potential. Excalibur has since given a Villiers’ scholar vital work experience.
The Apprenticeship Torch, a symbolic representation of the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next as well as showcasing the extraordinary talent to be found among apprentices, also went to Excalibur’s offices on its promotional journey.
