Colt Creates Global Network for Coperion

Colt, a leading provider of business communications, has secured a deal with Coperion, a global manufacturer of plant and machinery for the plastics, chemicals, food and aluminium industries, to provide a new global network for its 25 international sites. Spread throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America, the sites will be connected using Colt’s IP VPN MPLS service to deliver high quality connectivity with guaranteed bandwidth and high availability.

As part of the contract, Colt will provide a backup solution at each site, ranging from ISDN backup to secure backup connections via the internet. Implementation of the network, together with the backup solutions, is scheduled to be completed early this year.

Colt will use its Ethernet service to connect the data centres of Coperion and its partners so that they can access the company applications with the highest speed and reliability. Colt will also provide internet access for all of Coperion’s locations via an internet connection point in one of its data centres.

"Our global corporate network depends very much on two factors: reliability and security,” said Dieter Boch, head of IT Systems, Networks and Support at Coperion GmbH in Stuttgart, Germany. “Colt is able to meet both of these requirements thanks to its sophisticated technical solution, network reach and in-depth expertise as a network carrier. We believe Colt will be the ideal partner for the implementation and operation of our network."

Detlef Spang, managing director, Major Enterprise Division at Colt added, "With the creation of a global corporate network for Coperion, we are demonstrating our ability to deliver end-to-end global solutions for our customers that extend beyond countries where we operate and take advantage of our extensive solutions portfolio."
