Comms Group Sign Three Year Deal

South West Communications Group has extended its main and first team sponsorship deal with Exeter Chiefs with the launch of new branding to adorn the first team’s new playing shirts.

The Exeter-based telephony, data and network communications specialists has signed a six-figure deal that will see South West Communications Group extend its sponsorship relationship with the Sandy Park club to the 20-year mark.

South West Communications Group will celebrate this milestone and Chiefs’ entry into the Aviva Premiership Rugby for the first time by changing its first team shirt brand to “s w comms.co.uk”. The South West Communications Group orange and blue lozenges will still be used for the club’s community department branding and on the training and playing kits, while the South West Telecoms branding will be gradually phased out from squad’s training kit and replica kit items.

South West Communications Group’s managing director Harry Langley said: “Our current sponsorship deal was due to end on May 2011 but we have always renewed in the last year of our deals and it seemed especially pertinent this summer following the Chiefs’ success in reaching the Premiership.

“We decided to alter our brand on the first team shirts to make the most of the national and international exposure South West Communications Group will now receive and ensure that we are recognisable to our growing client base and geographic footprint. We were also keen to refresh our sports image in line with the changes the Chiefs have been embracing to make their step up to the top echelon of domestic rugby.”

The new deal also sees South West Communications Group as one of the named sponsors of the Community Chiefs department, which delivers grassroots rugby to schools and rugby clubs around the region.
