Unified communications provider Communicate Better has expanded its business by the acquisition of SCT Systems for an undisclosed sum. The purchase of the Leyland based IT solutions provider offers Communicate Better the opportunity to achieve strategic growth via a complimentary fit of services and technology and an ideal geographical spread of customers.

The CEO of Communicate Better, Wayne Cartwright commented “The acquisition consolidates our position as a leading provider of converged solutions across the north west, it provides the opportunity to enhance our IT support services and provide a wider range of fixed line and mobile services to the SCT Systems customer base, many of whom we already work with in a telecommunications capacity.”

Gillian Jackson of SCT Systems said “It was the right time for the company to consider becoming part of a larger organisation, which can help us deliver a wider mix of products to our customers and enhanced customer service levels. Communicate Better provided the right mix, combining a strong brand with an environment where our staff can thrive and deliver ongoing satisfaction to our customers.”

All SCT staff will be staying with the company and will be relocating to the Communicate Better head office in Swinton. The newly merged organisation will soon be launching an enhanced cloud based offering to its now larger customer base, as well as providing increased benefits to existing customers. The combined entity will now be able to provide a fully converged telecommunications package, which can improve business efficiencies and offer significant cost savings.

The acquisition tops off a successful year for Communicate Better which included scooping the prestigious accolade of Reseller of the Year at the Comms Business Awards. The company is on target to double its turnover by the end of this financial year, which has been achieved through a combination of organic growth and the recent acquisition, helping meet their aim of becoming a four million pound business within four years.

Communicate Better were advised by Keith Kennedy of Berg Legal and Ian Johnson of Cowgill Holloway LLP.

Ian Johnson, the Cowgill Holloway Corporate Finance Partner who worked on the deal, commented: "Wayne and his team have an ambitious buy & build strategy to become a market leading supplier of business communication services. This latest acquisition proves his experience and vision is paying off. We are delighted to have advised on this transaction and we look forward to supporting the Group as it continues to develop."
