Commvault and Sun Align to Deliver Enterprise Data Management Solutions

CommVault has entered into a collaborative agreement with Sun Microsystems to provide customers with advanced data management solutions for enterprise computing environments.

Under the agreement, Sun will distribute globally the CommVault® SimpanaTM 7.0 data and information management software suite running on Sun Microsystems x64 server and storage systems. Together, the two companies will assist customers in optimising their corporate infrastructures for 64-bit applications based on Microsoft Corp. messaging and collaboration platforms.

Today’s announcement helps users leverage the speed and performance of 64-bit computing environments to run and fully manage optimised 64-bit applications such as Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 on Sun server and storage systems using CommVault® software. The combined solution for Microsoft enterprise deployments will be available through Sun’s direct sales force and the CommVault authorised channel within Sun’s global partner network.

“This agreement will have a significant impact on our business model across EMEA,” said Vince Blackall, Managing Director at CommVault. “The new relationship with SUN not only takes the CommVault brand a major step further but it also reinforces the positive messages that we have been consistently delivering to our channel – providing a best of breed business solution that will drive increased market share as a result of key technological advancements that go above and beyond even the closest competitive offerings.”
