Connect Communications acquires Asptel

Connect Communications (CC.), the converged voice applications and UC specialist systems integrator, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Uxbridge-based Asptel Limited, a specialist in Nortel support services.

On 19th February 2007, 100% of the share capital of Asptel Limited and its subsidiary company, Asptel Services Limited was acquired by Connect Communications Holdings Limited (CC.).

Andy Thomas, CEO of CC. commented, “The acquisition builds on our success since the management buy-out in 2005 and confirms our intent to aggressively grow our business through a mixture of organic growth and targeted acquisition. We intend to maintain the Asptel brand and to enhance and broaden the services offered to clients.”

As a Nortel ‘Specialist Support Partner’, Asptel has been accredited specifically to provide professional and support services to other Nortel resellers who may lack technical capabilities in specific product areas, have yet to develop the ability around Nortel technology or simply require overflow services.

The acquisition will bring additional sites and wider geographic coverage into the Connect base. These clients will be supported from the company’s London-based Service Centre.

Commenting on the acquisition, Sean Patten, former MD of Asptel said, “It’s been a pleasure doing business with Connect. Connect have an impressive service capability and I’m sure our clients will benefit from Connect’s excellent customer service”.

Martin Cross, Business Development Director of CC. stated “This acquisition will clearly provide Connect with an additional accreditation which will strengthen our reputation and as a provider of specialist services to support UK telecoms channels but more importantly for Connect, this accelerates our growth in the retail and hospitality vertical markets, which were key part of our plans for 2007.”

Tony Bailey, VP, UK & Ireland Channels at Nortel commented “The purchase of Asptel will help Connect make further strides with its Nortel business. Connect will provide Asptel’s clients with the expert advice and services required to make the transformation towards converged communications”.
