Synchronica, the AIM listed mobile email, instant messaging and data synchronisation provider, announces that it has received a purchase order for $65,910 for an initial 50,000 annual licenses from a leading telecommunications operator in the Middle East, for its award winning mobile email product Mobile Gateway, and included the provision of professional services.
The order is the sixth order from the same Pan African and Middle Eastern Group to select Synchronica’s Mobile Gateway solution, bringing the total number of user licenses amongst subsidiaries of this group to 360,000. The orders received so far are for initial volumes and between them the six subsidiaries have over 60 million mobile phone subscribers.
The operator will use Synchronica’s Mobile Gateway technology to offer a push mail and mobile synchronisation service to its subscribers. Synchronica’s industry standard technology requires no additional software client to be downloaded to the handset and enables push email for the broadest range of handsets, from high end Smartphones to low cost entry level devices.
In 2009 the operator’s user base in its country rose by nearly 12% to approximately three million subscribers making in the largest operator in a rapidly emerging market. Mobile phone use in the operator’s country is running at 30% of the population and growing; this combined with the fact that under 2% of the population have access to the internet means that this market is ideally suited to a strong take up of Synchronica’s mobile email product.
The contract win comes on the back of Synchronica’s attendance at the recent Mobile World Congress, where the Company met with over 40 mobile operators, making the event one of the most productive for Synchronica to date.
Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica, said: “Operators in the Middle East have the opportunity to establish the mobile phone as the primary device for mobile internet access, and Synchronica provides a key component to turn this vision into reality. This purchase order is the sixth with this particular operator and demonstrates clearly the reliability of Synchronica’s products and services, not only to the client, but also to the end user.”
