Convergence beyond Common Infrastructure says TeleWare

Lesley Hansen, Marketing Director at TeleWare says convergence has finally started to move beyond the physical convergence of voice and data over a common IP infrastructure to a convergence at the desktop with applications being provided that will enable telephony and data based applications to be integrated – as in voice and data presence solutions, IVR solutions that link to back end databases and collaboration applications where communications by voice and data is seamlessly integrated to the end user

“Of the cost saving available from converged networks only about 40% comes from the converged infrastructure savings, the remainder of slightly more elusive to quantify benefits are from the increased business performance and efficiency of the converged applications.

Convergence of applications is not yet a mature area of the market and very few vendors have the experience and installed base of TeleWare, even fewer are able to offer these applications over TDM, IP or mixed telephony switches as well as over IP-PBXs and IP-Centrex hosted services.”
