Convergence Group Teams with ntl:Telewest Business Network

Convergence Group, a Midlands-based network services provider has teamed up with ntl:Telewest Business, part of the Virgin Media Group, to help some of the UK’s largest companies improve the way they communicate with their own shops, offices and factories.

Convergence Group provides companies with the network services they need to move large amounts of customer or business information rapidly between sites. For example, retailers need networks that can quickly scale on demand to support the voice and data requirements of warehouse, distribution, office and retail locations.

Convergence Group is using next generation Ethernet services from ntl:Telewest Business to provide broad reaching, flexible and secure networks for all data traffic. It can also provide a platform for hosting other data applications such as IP security cameras using the UK’s only nation-wide fibre optic network.

Neal Harrison, commercial director of Convergence Group explains: “Data is the currency of the 21st century, it underpins business operations at all levels. As a services company, we work hard to make certain that we are at the forefront of technology in order to ensure we’re meeting customer expectations.

“We are seeing a growing demand for not only speed of access, but also reliable, flexible services that are capable of supporting future business growth.”

Large, geographically-distributed organisations like Convergence Group are increasingly choosing Ethernet networks as it gives them the extra control and simplicity they need to manage the addition of users and bandwidth.

ntl:Telewest Business has the largest Ethernet product portfolio in the UK today, as well as 330 Ethernet nodes across its network, which is capable of carrying a diverse array of communications services and high-bandwidth applications simultaneously.

Convergence Group provides secure complex communications solutions for its customers over a straightforward and high-speed network architecture, which interface directly with customers’ Local Area Networks (LANs). Its customers can instantly share information between sites across the UK or abroad, with full 24/7 support. It also enables Convergence Group to work with its customers’ existing communications providers, be they UK or non-UK operators

“Network services companies have to deal with a broad spectrum of customers whose requirements can change very quickly. It is important that they are able to use technology to drive a higher quality of service and simpler network management for customers,” said Paul Lawrence, head of business markets for ntl:Telewest Business in the West Midlands. “Ethernet enables a multitude of operational and technological advantages for wide area networks and can deliver huge improvements in performance and speed compared to conventional infrastructure.”
