Council Investment Sparks Contract Joy for Executel

Alnwick District Council has joined the telecom revolution after investing heavily in a technology upgrade for its three Northumberland-based sites.

In a bid to significantly improve customer relations, the Council has teamed up with North East communications firm, Executel, to undertake a complete overhaul of its voice and data network. This has streamlined operations for the organisation, aided more efficient call-handling and is ultimately benefiting service delivery as a whole.

In addition, Executel’s bespoke solution has enabled the Council to take full advantage of cutting-edge VoIP (Voice over IP) technologies while at the same time, has protected the investment made in existing infrastructure by negating the need for a complete telephony solution.

Marcus Ayres, account manager for Gateshead-based Executel, explains: “We pride ourselves on our ability to provide cost-effective IP technology using a unique migratory approach. This enables our customers to safeguard the investment made in existing equipment by simply adding a gateway solution rather than installing a whole new system.

“We have formed a strong working relationship with Alnwick Council during this installation and already have a second project in the pipeline which is a resounding vote of confidence for us as a service provider – long may the partnership continue.”

The leader of the council, Councillor Heather Cairns added: “Making use of existing equipment and not installing a completely new telephony system was the most cost-effective way of upgrading our infrastructure and ensuring that we kept ahead of advances in technology.”
