Daisy ends the year on a high!

Daisy is ending the year on a high, having seen 100 of its employees gain National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) during 2011.

Some 45 staff at Daisy Group’s Nelson headquarters were presented with their hard-earned certificates this week, seeing the total number of employees to have gained NVQs this year rise into treble figures.

More than 140 employees who work at Daisy sites across the country have now gained NVQs over the last 18 months in customer service, business administration, team leading and management.

Achieved through workplace assessment and training, the latest programme was delivered by local provider Training Station.

On presenting the achievers with their certificates, Group Director of Shared Services, Paul Burton said: “It’s important to recognise that the training that these employees have successfully completed has been of their own accord and is a credit to their commitment as individuals.

“For a business to continue to thrive and grow, it needs competent, capable, experienced and motivated employees. But this would not be achieved if it wasn’t for the commitment of those people who are willing to take the time to go the extra mile for both themselves and the company.

“For Daisy, our aim is to identify, develop and nurture talent from within the business, and we recognise that these achievers are a key part of our future.”

Having originally started NVQ training at the company’s Nelson site, Daisy now delivers the programme, through its in-house Learning and Development Team, to employees in Prudhoe, Manchester, Birmingham, Bedford, Ramsgate and Eastleigh.

More than 100 Daisy employees from across the country have already shown interest in a new NVQ programme starting in January, including staff in Basildon and Loudwater, where the course has not yet been delivered.

Lisa Whiteoak, of Training Station, added: “It’s always a pleasure to work with both the individuals and the management at Daisy, who show admirable enthusiasm towards new learning opportunities.

“It’s refreshing to see employees who are just as passionate as their managers about developing their roles within the company.”
