Customers in four fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC)-enabled areas will be given the opportunity to upgrade their connections to FTTP, which will allow them to take advantage of ultra-fast download speeds of up to 330Mbps.
Daisy Wholesale is involved in the trial in High Wycombe, Bristol South, St Agnes and Edinburgh Waverley. Craig Peterson, Product Manager at Daisy Wholesale said: “Our involvement in this trial puts us at the forefront of the development of ultra-fast fibre optic broadband in the UK and goes some way to bridging the gap between ADSL broadband and leased line/Ethernet connections.
“Business customers will be able to take advantage of significantly faster connection speeds for a reasonable price.
“Unlike FTTC and traditional DSL services, FTTP is much more reliable and is less affected by other environmental factors like traditional copper, making this service less likely to cause end user downtime, which currently costs businesses large amounts of time and money as well as frustration.”
The trial, which is expected to run until spring 2013, provides Daisy Wholesale with a platform for possible commercial launch in in the future.
