The appointment of Data Select at the forefront of Nokia’s distribution strategy is a significant win for the business (owned by Peter Jones of Dragons’ Den fame) and testament to the meteoric rise of the company over the last two years.
Speaking of the appointment, Group Managing Director George McPherson commented, “We’re pleased Nokia has recognised the hard work Data Select is putting into mobile distribution. We have increased our business significantly with Nokia over the last year and predict with the new contract we will continue to do so”.
In an industry where distribution has been in decline, Data Select has posted record annual accounts, launched the JCB Toughphone, increased online business, expanded into the comms and IT sectors and launched the Platinum Club for key customers. Nokia products have figured in a number of the areas where Data Select has experienced significant growth. This ability to innovate and succeed was a contributing factor in Data Select’s appointment by Nokia.
The appointment of Data Select will see Nokia handsets, accessories, content (including games, music and navigation) and services (such as Intellisync) distributed to sales channels including traditional mobile phone dealers, high street retailers, online dealers and comms/IT dealers.

Our appointment by Nokia endorses this holistic approach to distribution”, remarked George McPherson.
Data Select has direct manufacturer relationships with Nokia, Sony Ericsson, LG, Samsung, Motorola, HP, Toshiba, Sonim, Alcatel and Sagem for handset distribution in the UK, as well as airtime distribution agreements with the major networks.
