Andy Tow, managing director of Data Select’s mobile managed services business, is confirmed to become the new managing director at Avenir Telecom following yesterday’s announcement that Tanny Price is leaving the company.

George McPherson, managing director at Data Select, exclusively confirmed to Mobile Business that managing director of mobile services, Tow, who joined the company in March this year, is set to join Avenir.

McPherson commented: “Andy will be leaving us and joining Avenir. Andy is still currently employed by us, but his move has been agreed with Avenir. We see Andy’s move as advantageous, as we have a good relationship with Avenir already and this strengthens the relationship between us further.”

Tow joined Data Select after he left Unique in February. In eight months he has established the infrastructure for the distributor to become a provider of mobile managed services and built up that area of the business. McPherson added: “Andy came to us to bring mobile managed services into Data Select. Since then he has been approached by Avenir with a career offer he sees as advantageous.”

Phil Jackson, formerly in sales for mobile managed services, has succeeded Tow and has already taken over the running of the division as its new managing director. McPherson said Jackson is now tasked with taking Data Select’s mobile managed services division into the next phase of its development, growth. Jackson will be concentrating on increasing the sales resource to expand the business, which is mostly focused on corporate business.

After 11 years at Avenir, Price will be joining Vodafone to work on promoting the indirect channel side of its business.
