“The SMB market has lagged large enterprises in adopting VoIP,” said Alan Weckel, Analyst of IP Telephony Enterprise Research at Dell’Oro Group. “Vendors are developing new products and bundling solutions to target these businesses and address the unique needs of the different vertical markets within the SMB segment. With better mobility and application integration, small businesses are beginning to get excited about and upgrade to VoIP,” Weckel added.
According to the report, IP Lines will grow from slightly less than 20 percent of lines shipments into SMBs in 2006 to almost 60 percent in 2011. In contrast, digital and analogue line shipments will decline at an average of 10 percent a year through 2011. Traditional systems will fair even worse, declining to less than 5 percent of the total market by 2011.
