Down Under: Avaya & Touchbase call it a day

Avaya’s partnership with its biggest Australian systems integrator, Touchbase Australia, has ended with both parties blaming differing customer strategies.

Reports in the Australian press quote Avaya Australia and New Zealand managing director Carlton Taya as saying Touchbase chose not to renew its contract with the communications network supplier and it was time to move on from the partnership.

Touchbase Australia and New Zealand managing director Magnus Maynard called the discontinuation of the contract a "termination".

Avaya had become anxious about the integrator's ability to sell equipment from rivals Cisco and Genesys, Maynard said. “It was trying to foster a direct relationship with customers served by Touchbase. They wanted to work with some of our clients directly, which was in contradiction with what we're trying to achieve. Interestingly enough, it was also in contradiction with what our clients wanted to achieve.”

In the UK, Touchbase remains one of Avaya’s largest resellers.
