Trainhound (http://www.trainhound.co.uk/) finds the live train departure information commuters need, and delivers it to the mobile, tablet or desktop. Using the geo-location capabilities of the device, Trainhound will identify the station closest to your current location and automatically show you the live departure board information from that station.
What’s so good about this app is that it draws the live information from the API of National Rail Enquiries, with platform and delay information. It also provides a map to show how to get to your nearest rail station – based on the device’s geo-location.
As it is running on HTML 5, if accessing via the desktop you will need to be running IE9, Chrome or FireFox in order to use this. But it works with all smart phones.
Consumers by-pass the App Store, as this is a web application – therefore they do not need to agree to Apple’s T&Cs. The app can be ‘added to homescreen’ very easily, so it will appear like a phone application.”
