Envirofone appoints finance director

Envirofone, the UK online mobile phone recycling site, has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of a highly experienced finance director.

Nigel Goldsmith, a 47 year old chartered accountant, joins Envirofone from Chester-based AIM listed pharmaceutical company, IS Pharma, where he spent three years as finance director. As part of the executive management team there, he was instrumental in driving profitability and developing a rapidly growing, highly successful company. This included two corporate acquisitions in addition to significant equity and debt fundraising.

Goldsmith will head up the company’s finance team at its headquarters on Lyme Green Business Park in Macclesfield. Envirofone, employing over 125 staff, has doubled turnover to £10 million in 2008 and is on target to treble this in 2009.

Nick Brown, managing director at Envirofone, said: “Nigel joins the business at an exciting time, and brings a wealth of experience to oversee the company’s finances. With the recent launch of a new advertising campaign, coinciding with a redesign of the website, we expect an influx of new users and, in turn, an increase in revenue. Nigel has been brought in to manage this anticipated growth.”

Brown continued: “The rapid expansion of our team reflects the growing success of Envirofone, the increasing popularity of our website and the public’s commitment to reducing their carbon footprint by recycling their mobile phones. We’re constantly striving to create pioneering new recycling schemes, offering real value to customers, business partners and charities. I’m sure Nigel will have an instant impact in sustaining and adding value to these core values.”

Commenting on his new role, Goldsmith said: “I’m looking forward to working closely with the team at Envirofone and helping to support the business through its strategic and financial development. There is no doubt that exciting times are ahead for this sector and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play a part in the growing success of the company.”

Envirofone was launched in 2006 to provide real value to customers by recycling their electronic devices and help protect the environment from contaminated and harmful toxins found in mobile phones and accessories. This is in accordance with the Government’s WEEE Directive (Waste Electronic & Electrical Equipment).
