Ex-Vodafone Board Director Appointed Chairman at Six Degrees Group

Six Degrees Group has announced the appointment of Peter Bamford, a former board director of Vodafone, as non-executive chairman. Six Degrees Group is a privately owned, rapidly growing managed data services provider serving UK mid-market customers.

Bamford has a prestigious track record of leadership in fast-growing companies and significant merger and acquisition (M&A) experience. He is currently chairman of SuperGroup Plc, one of the UK’s fastest growing international branded clothing companies which owns the Superdry and Cult brands.

Bamford was a board director of Vodafone between 1998 and 2006, during which time he served as managing director of Vodafone Distribution, chief executive of Vodafone UK, regional chief executive, Northern Europe, Middle East and Africa, and group chief marketing officer. Under his stewardship, Vodafone became one of the world’s leading brand names. Prior to Vodafone, Peter was managing director of WH Smith Retail.

Bamford also currently serves as chairman of MCPS-PRS Alliance Limited (known as PRS for Music) for Music and as non-executive director of Rentokil Initial plc.

Commenting on his appointment, Bamford said: “As CEO, Alastair has a very clear and compelling vision of what he is trying to achieve and his management team has a great track record of delivery. The company also has an excellent long-term relationship with Penta Capital. The managed data services market is an exciting and fast growing sector and Six Degrees Group is well positioned to capitalise on that growth opportunity with its integrated product portfolio. I feel that I can add value from my experiences of growing and developing companies and I’m very much looking forward to being part of the Six Degrees Group team.”

Alastair Mills, CEO of Six Degrees Group, commented: “I’m delighted that Peter has joined the Six Degrees Group board and his decision is testament to our progress in our short history and our ambitious strategy. Peter is a highly prominent figure in British industry and brings a wealth of M&A, technology and marketing experience to the Group. I look forward to working with Peter and I’m confident that he will make a significant contribution to the execution of our business model.”
