Samba Mobile, the free mobile broadband company, today announced the appointment of Dave Roberts as customer acquisition director.

Roberts has been tasked with securing relevant retail partnerships to take Samba’s free mobile broadband to a potential high street audience of millions. Roberts brings over 20 years retail sales and operations experience to Samba, gained through various management positions within Dixons Stores Group, Vodafone and Digicel.

Roberts joins Samba from Digicel, the Caribbean’s largest mobile operator, where as Group head of retail he spearheaded the expansion of its retail estate across the Caribbean, Central & South America and included overseeing the opening of over 500 new stores.

Prior to this, Roberts spent seven years at Vodafone, where as Head of Retail Stores he was responsible for the operational management of the 350 strong retail estate, including customer acquisition & retention, and line management accountability for all retail store personnel.

Ben Atherton, founder and CEO, Samba Mobile, said: “Dave's credentials speak for themselves, so for a start-up company to be able attract such a big hitter to the team is a fantastic achievement for the business and one which I am certain will help take Samba to the next level."

Dave Roberts, Customer Acquisition Director, Samba Mobile, added: “Samba has identified a viable gap in the market which brings together consumers and advertisers in a way that benefits both sides of the relationship. Taking the Samba Mobile service to the high-street is the next step for the company and I'm hugely excited to be in a position to help make this transition happen."
