Extreme Networks Defies Market Trend with Record Quarter

Extreme Networks has announced impressive growth in its UK customer base during the second quarter of its 2010 financial year (Q4 2009), winning a record 31 new customers. The increase marks the completion Gary Newbold’s successful first year as Extreme Networks’ Regional Director for UK and Ireland.

There is no doubt that many IT budgets have been affected by the recent economic climate, but UK businesses are still looking to increase customer retention and profitability. End users now demand a greater return from fewer network resources, and have been seeking new, innovative solutions at an attractive procurement price point.

“The credit crunch has presented many ongoing challenges for businesses and a thorough review of an organisation’s communication infrastructure will identify areas where significant savings can be made,” commented Gary Newbold. “We have been winning business from our competitors by demonstrating a clear technology advantage and by offering customers a lower total cost of ownership.”

One new Extreme Networks’ customer profiting from an improved total cost of ownership is South Leicestershire College. Having deployed a new network using a selection of BlackDiamond 8810 and Summit X450 switches, the College is now benefiting from a secure and reliable network backbone on which to support its hosted applications, all at a lower price point than other vendors’ offerings.

“The new network provides phenomenal reliability,” explained South Leicestershire College’s Assistant Director for Capital Projects and IT, Gordon Riddell. “Extreme Networks provides a depth of development and progression that some other solutions just do not have. With its help, we now possess a future-proofed network that will provide us with a good return on investment in years to come.”

Continued Gary Newbold, “It’s clear that customers are adopting an open standards approach when making any purchasing decisions, and this ensures that they are able to choose best-of-breed for any application, or network enhancements in the future. Our new business success this year underlines the fact that Extreme Networks is ideally placed to meet any demands made by potential and existing customers. I am looking forward to fulfilling these requirements, and helping our partners become increasingly successful in 2010 and beyond.”
