Fibernet will deploy Huawei’s new NetEngine 40E Routers to support the launch of 10GB Ethernet services and to expand the current backbone already delivered by Huawei in 2004. This includes a new Metro Carrier Ring based on 10GB RPR technology in London, plus a full upgrade of the core national network.
In addition, Huawei has also now supplied and completed the implementation of a new national 1.6 Terabit Optical DWDM network upgrade, enabling Fibernet to offer extremely cost effective 10GB wavelength services to wholesale customers across the UK. Huawei has supplied and brought into service its BWS1600G terminal equipment at key Fibernet PoPs which enables the delivery of optical managed services both quickly and economically.
