To raise money for the Martlets Hospice, business solutions specialist Focus Group, decided to do something different. Over the weekend a total of 16 brave souls spent an entire evening through to the early hours in the notoriously haunted ‘Old Police Cells’, housed in the eerie basement of Brighton Town Hall, where Police Chief Henry Solomon was murdered by an inmate in 1844.

Joining the fundraisers in the centre of the city’s most dramatic ghost story, was a fully equipped Paranormal Investigation Service (The P.I.G.S) and ‘Medium’ Debbie Dean.

The night progressed with a torch lit tour around the ghostly lockup, visiting the Men’s cells, Women’s cells, washrooms, court room and the book room, all whilst using the latest in ghost hunting technology.

Tim from The P.I.G.S stated “We are going through all of the CCTV footage and the sound recordings over the next few days to see if we can find anything unusual.”

Darren Gander, Focus Mobiles account manager said: “It was all smiles until the lights went off and then the fear started to kick in! There was some real spooky goings on and I think a few sceptics were converted!”

Jodi another member of the team stated: “The medium really brought the atmosphere together and there was definitely a few mysterious things that happened in the book room! All in all it was a great evening and we raised a lot of money!”

The Martlets is such a fantastic cause and Focus Group managed to raise over £2000 for the charity that cares for over one thousand people living in Brighton & Hove every year, it plays a vital role in helping people to live life as fully as they can right up until the end.
