Force10 to offer new incentive to resellers that need Cisco/HP alternative

Force10 Networks has announced a new promotion aimed at resellers now seeking alternatives to Cisco and HP Procurve networking products, following the much-publicised fallout between the two vendors.

The company says that Cisco’s decision to drop HP’s systems integrator contract last week is likely to spell uncertainty for any resellers currently offering combinations of Cisco and HP hardware. ‘Questions remain over how easy it will be to support these solutions moving forward, as well as whether customers demand for these solutions will be affected by the fallout. Consequently, many resellers will now be considering taking on alternative networking solutions to ensure they can continue to meet customers’ requirements’.

Targeting resellers that want to offer best-of-breed Ethernet networking solutions, Force10’s promotion – which will run until the end of September 2010 – will incentivise resellers with improved margins and a lower-priced competitive solution than a comparable Cisco or HP Procurve configuration.

Under the promotion, Force10 will also help resellers and distribution partners like Bell Micro, Tech Data and NHR to define attractive best-of-breed solutions geared for the data centre, 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) and video applications.
