Freedom4 Expand Services in Warwickshire

Freedom4 has teamed up with Warwickshire College as its learning partner to enhance its offering of WiMAX in the area. Supported by local reseller Konnex Networks, Freedom4 is expanding its wireless broadband service following trials of the new technology in the Warwick and Leamington Spa area.

As one of only three UK cities to receive WiMAX, the technology provides high speed internet access without wires or the need for a fixed BT line. Offering faster upload speeds than traditional ADSL and simple installation, WiMAX is easy to use and ideal for those that need to send and receive large amounts of data.

Principal of the college, Ioan Morgan comments, “The College has a tradition of working with cutting edge companies in every sector, ranging from engineering to computer games manufacturers, and we are therefore pleased to announce our latest partnership with Freedom4, the UK’s leading WiMAX company.

“New technologies are the cornerstone of the knowledge economy,” continues Morgan. “One of the key drivers to success in this area is learning. It is therefore appropriate that Freedom4, who are at the cutting edge of WiMAX technologies, and the College establish this new partnership to bring further benefit to the area.”

Warwick District Council Chief Executive, Chris Elliot, adds, “As an acknowledged excellent Council, we work hard to offer a first class service, at lowest cost to the taxpayer. As part of delivering our many and varied public services, technology plays an increasingly important role. It is within this context that we have embraced the use of WiMAX in our work, especially for home and mobile workers. The Council is please to see how these benefits are now being made readily available to business communities, the voluntary sector and local residents across the District.”

Brendan O’Rourke, Chief Operating Officer at Freedom4 states, “We are delighted to have teamed up with Warwickshire College and see the partnership as an important step in the development of our offering in the local area. Education is a sector that we feel can really gain from having WiMAX and are looking forward to working together for the benefit of the local community.”
