Gamma Telecom Acquires Asylum Telecom

Gamma Telecom, the voice services and applications provider, today announced that it has acquired assets and staff of Asylum Telecom, a Budapest-based IP telephony service provider

As part of a long-term programme of investment, Gamma plans to build on its capabilities in order to strengthen its position in the rapidly developing market for IP telephony. This strategic step reinforces Gamma's leading IP-based platform and provides it with further skilled development resources for application development.

Asylum Telecom is a provider of IP-based communication solutions to internet service providers, consumer brand companies, and enterprises. The acquisition will give Gamma additional expertise in softswitch development, SIP protocol, database skills and testing and QA. This latter skills set, will now play a major part in testing Gamma's SIP trunk service with major IP customer premise equipment manufacturers.

Bob Falconer, CEO of Gamma Telecom commented, "The acquisition of Asylum represents an important milestone in the development of Gamma Telecom's business and significantly enhances our software development capabilities. The new resources will accelerate the introduction of leading edge IP telephony products to Gamma's channel partners."

Gamma Telecom launched four IP-based telephony services earlier this year and carries over one million minutes a day of IP traffic from customer's applications. This achievement positions the company as one of the leading UK providers of IP-based voice services and applications.
