Gartner Place NEC Top of 2006 Enterprise Telephony Market

For the second year in a row, NEC Corporation has been ranked first in worldwide enterprise telephony equipment market share by Gartner. According to the firm’s July report titled “Market Share: Enterprise Telephony Equipment, Worldwide, 2006,” NEC is ranked first in global extension line shipments with 12 percent market share.

In addition, the Gartner study showed NEC’s enterprise telephony line shipments grew 11 percent over 2005, making this the company’s second year to achieve the top position. NEC believes this growth was due to strong sales throughout the world, most notably in the Asia/Pacific and Latin American regions, which respectively experienced 13 percent and 15 percent increases overall. The report also cites NEC’s focus on vertical markets and strong dealer network as growth contributors.

“NEC’s success, as illustrated by Gartner’s report, underscores our commitment to growing market share by providing both traditional and IP-based telephony solutions with a clear vision for the future,” said Kazuo Tsuzuki, Associate Senior Vice President at NEC Corporation. “We will continue this flexible approach to help our customers exceed their business and IT organizational goals both today and tomorrow.

“NEC experienced another fantastic growth year globally in 2006. We can attribute this success to not only great products and applications, but also our focus on excellent customer service and support,” continued Mr. Tsuzuki. “Gartner’s report illustrates NEC’s commitment to overall quality, and to supporting a range of organizations from small to very large with innovative, flexible and reliable communications solutions.”
