Global Crossing Adds Social Media to its Collaboration Services

Global Crossing, the IP solutions provider, has announced the addition of social media interfaces and other enhancements to its web meeting offer with the launch of Global Crossing Web Meeting 11.

The company says Web Meeting 11 offers a new intuitive platform that dramatically increases participant interaction, event recordings and promotion via direct interfaces with social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Global Crossing Web Meeting is part of Global Crossing’s suite of audio, video and web-based collaboration services.

“Social media offers a whole new communication network for webinar promotion,” said Debra Swann, Global Crossing’s vice president of marketing. “By integrating Web Meeting 11 with popular social media sites, we’re making it easier for customers to publicise upcoming live events, sales presentations, training sessions or other meetings. Social media allows customers to reach targeted audiences that would be most interested in their events, significantly improving their return on investment in promoting and sharing meeting content.”

The social media feature is an enhancement to the other existing features such as podcasting, online editing and full webinar setup that help users share information more easily and meet emerging online business application requirements.

According to Wainhouse Research, an independent market research firm, the global market for web conferencing services is projected to grow to a total market size of nearly $2.1 billion by 2013, increasing at a compounded annual rate of 11 percent between 2008 and 2013.
