Global Crossing Introduces Ready-Access Video

Global Crossing has announced it has added Ready-Access Video to its collaboration services portfolio. The new service is set to improve the effectiveness of collaboration services by allowing users to simultaneously display presentations and high-quality video, combining the benefits of videoconferencing and Web conferencing into a powerful, single-screen experience for the end user.

Ready-Access Video is an interactive business collaboration tool that brings geographically dispersed teams together in a cost-effective manner. It gives users real-time control of content and supports on-demand multi-point video bridging, integrated recording, streaming and broadcasting, Web-based presentations and archiving. Meeting participants can conveniently connect to a discussion through a standard videoconferencing system by phone and the Web, or by watching a full video stream at their computers.

“Ready-Access Video is a powerful new collaboration tool for enterprises and makes Global Crossing’s portfolio of services even more useful to them,” said Anthony Christie, Global Crossing’s chief marketing officer. “It employs the efficiencies of a converged IP network to deliver an unbeatable combination - convenience, cost-efficiency and improved employee productivity.”

Offered in partnership with IP technologies provider Applied Global Technologies (AGT), the new service supports on-demand video bridging and all standards-based ISDN or IP collaboration endpoints. It features a reservationless Personal Identification Number (PIN) system that allows users to start videoconferences as quickly and easily as if they were initiating Ready-Access audio conferences.

Ready-Access Video also lets users combine the face-to-face advantages of videoconferencing with the power of sharing Web-based applications. Ready-Access Video and IP Video are applications within Global Crossing’s converged IP offer, which supports ISDN and IP-based endpoints for videoconferencing services and can be bundled with Global Crossing’s Video Endpoint Management Services.

Global Crossing’s converged IP service offers an end-to-end managed services environment where data, voice, video and multimedia applications are supported on a single IP-based platform. The service provides customers straightforward network design, administration, and connectivity, as well as billing and customer care. Global Crossing eases customers’ cost- migration to a fully managed, converged IP environment, while offering a full suite of interoperable services that leverage the company’s unique global IP footprint. The company also provides the infrastructure to safely transport business communications through a fully secure, high-performance, vastly reliable and highly scalable IP network.
