Global Crossing Wins ‘Best Latin American Wholesale Offering’ Award 2009

Global Crossing has once again won the award for "Best Latin American Wholesale Offering" from a panel of industry thought leaders at Capacity magazine's Annual Global Wholesale Telecommunications Awards ceremony here at Capacity Europe 2009 last night. The award recognises Global Crossing for demonstrated thought leadership in the development and implementation of its wholesale strategy in the region, which includes its network, data centres and commitment to the Latin American market.

“Global Crossing has shown both leadership and commitment to the Latin American market and continues to develop its offering across the region,” said Matthew Whalley, editor of Capacity magazine. “With operations in more than 200 cities in Latin America and 15 datacenters across the continent, Global Crossing has established itself as a reliable source of connectivity in one of the world’s fastest developing markets.”

“We are extremely delighted to receive this important award from Capacity magazine, and gratified that our efforts are getting this level of attention and recognition,” said Omar Altaji, Global Crossing’s managing director, Worldwide Carrier Services. “Demand is helping push our progress: Carriers and content providers look to our global reach; social networking applications continue to drive the need for higher bandwidth and greater capacities; and as service providers’ business models shift to support these needs for increasing capacity, Global Crossing is committed to providing them with solutions that enable them to deliver a high quality of service to their customers.”

“We remain focused on being well positioned to take advantage of these growth trends, and as such, we’re continuing with our strategy of selectively investing where we see demand to maximise momentum,” added Hector Alonso, Global Crossing’s managing director, Latin America. “This year we completed a significant expansion of our IP network capacity due to the growing demand in the region. We are expanding our managed services portfolio and are currently in the process of upgrading our layer one capacity in the Latin American region and rolling out global Ethernet access to our IP-based services. The new solutions that Global Crossing is launching to the marketplace are aimed to position us in a preferred place with those customers interested in state-of-the-art technology and fast capacity growth.”
