Good News Boosts Westell Interchange Sales

Basingstoke based Westell has seen a more than 25% increase in quarterly sales of its InterChange iQ Convergence Gateway range reflecting the findings of a positive independent TIA report on IP- DPNSS PBX interoperability testing

The growth has also coincided with Westell's achievement of 'Highly Commended' status in the Communications in Business (CIB) Awards, held in London earlier this month. The Westell InterChange (IiQ) products offer a number of solutions for customers with DPNSS PBX networks who wish to migrate towards full IP converged networks.

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), whose report featured products from Westell, Alcatel, Cisco, Mitel and Siemens, stated that: "The results of the tests demonstrate that DPNSS network users do not have to compromise on functionality when migrating to new platforms and [the report] provides end-user enterprise customers with the additional vendor-neutral assurance that they can continue to utilise their current telephony products whilst safely moving to new convergent technology solutions."

Westell's IiQ gateways both enable DPNSS PBX's to work over new IP networks (in the case of the IiQ 2030) and can interface with new IP telephony systems such as Cisco's Call Manager (IiQ 2000plus).

"This strength of demand for the InterChange Products has come from two distinct areas of the broad convergence market," said David McKeigue, Managing Director, Westell. "On the one hand service providers launching new IP/MPLS networks generating customers' need for gateways to link operational PBXs in a cost-effective IP manner. Meanwhile our reseller channel is capitalising on its opportunity through convergent migration to offer customers a risk free route to achieving convergence benefits."
