Good Place to Work

Rackspace, a provider of hosted and cloud based services, has been ranked 15th in this year’s 50 Best Workplaces Awards. One of only seven companies in the IT industry included in this year’s top 50, Rackspace has now made the list for seven years running.

David Kelly, Rackspace’s Senior Vice President International, says: “All praise and credit for this award goes to our ‘Rackers’ – the employees who make the Rackspace UK workplace supportive, industrious and, most importantly, fun. Seven consecutive years in the top 50 is a stunning achievement and testament to the fantastic work culture that is evident throughout the company. Since 2001, Rackspace has been a leader in hosting, and a pioneer in cloud computing. To have maintained the fun and creative culture of a start-up whilst leading the market and growing at a blistering pace is an accomplishment the entire company can be proud of.”

Gus Maskowitz, Cloud Professional Services Engineer, says: “Rackspace wins awards such as Best Workplaces to Work because it is made up of people who want to work together, and because all of us are committed to building a culture of mutual support and co-operation. We focus on this first and the awards later. So while I’m very proud of this new accolade, I’m even more proud to be part of the magic that underpins it.”
The UK’s 50 Best Workplaces Awards is run by the Great Place to Work® Institute, a global research and management consultancy that helps organisations identify, create and sustain great workplaces through the development of high-trust workplace cultures. More than 5,500 organisations are currently involved in the global Best Workplaces Programme, making it the largest of its kind. The Great Place to Work® Institute conducts programmes in 48 countries, including 18 in Europe.

Tom O’Byrne, Chief Executive Great Place to Work Institute UK, says: ‘On behalf of everyone at Great Place to Work, I congratulate all our winners for their outstanding achievement in being ranked one of the UK’s Best Workplaces for 2011, as well as those who have demonstrated excellence in a particular discipline by winning one of our prestigious Special Category Awards.

“To put our winners’ achievements into context, out of the thousands of organisations around the world who take part every year in a Best Workplaces Programme, these UK organisations have been recognised as one of the Best. Their success is a testimony to their organisation’s leadership and the support of everyone who works there – indeed what employees think and feel about their workplace makes a significant contribution to the overall results,” added O’Byrne.
