Griffin’s Parent Company Buys MBD

Octium, the holding company that owns ISP of the Year Griffin, has bought MBD, a managed IT services player, for an undisclosed cash sum, restructured the group and is looking to recruit in key areas to support their investment.

MBD will become the focus for all product development within the group, providing Griffin with access to a stream of new white label applications, which can be sold on a monthly, per-seat basis as well as improving the feature set of existing products.

The new purchase has also prompted a change in the organisational structure within the group. John Dawson has been promoted to CEO of Octium to create an active management holding company providing overall leadership, governance and some shared services. Andrew Dickinson, formerly the Sales and Marketing Director, is taking the Griffin helm as Managing Director and Adrian Sunderland, formerly CTO of Griffin, is moving to head up MBD. The company is also looking to recruit in key areas such as account management, marketing and development to support the new structure.

“We predict that Cloud computing is going to have a big impact in the channel over the next few years. Griffin was the first to market MPLS networking and virtual hosting to the channel and has a very supportive holding company investing in best of breed technology to enable us to launch white label managed applications to the market quickly. Demand is high for per seat applications that are easy to sell, help to reduce churn and increase ARPU significantly. Watch his space,” said Andrew Dickinson, MD, Griffin.
