The first official Guardian App is now available from the App Store. Designed by an in-house team and built by 2ergo, the unique news app for iPhone and iPod touch will showcase news, comment, features, photo galleries and audio The Guardian online, through to a range of features that can be personalised to each user. The app also enables the user to effortlessly browse the latest content most relevant to them, even offline.

The app has been specifically crafted for the iPhone and iPod touch with the content presented in an intuitive and elegant style, which entirely fits alongside the native interface of the devices.

Emily Bell, director of digital content, Guardian News & Media, said: “There is no other news app like it on the App Store and the pre-launch feedback has been unbelievably positive. Users can personalise their homepage to get quicker access to the content most relevant to them, browse content offline, effortlessly flip through our stunning photo galleries and access every contributor; from Charlie Brooker to Polly Toynbee. I’m very keen to hear what people think of it.”

Jonathon Moore, mobile product manager, Guardian News & Media, added: “We've worked hard to create an app that offers our growing digital audience a wonderful new way to reach and interact with the Guardian on their iPhone and iPod touch, and we're proud to introduce an important new addition to our digital portfolio. Key themes in the development were speed, customisation, a great design and ease of navigation, and we believe we've created the world's best content-based experience, in your pocket, wherever you are.”
