A survey of small office based business owners in Essex by Shadowfax Technology has revealed that half have been adversely affected by the recent heavy snow. Out of these, only 50% of the employees who couldn’t make it into the office could work from home.
Shadowfax stated that while we cannot influence the weather or how effectively the transport system runs, as businesses we can ensure that all employees have an effective means of working from home. With further poor weather forecast, now is the time to make sure people are able to keep working even if they remain home alone snow bound, commented managing director at Shadowfax, Adam Pedder.
Pedder said: “This week 75% of our calls to the help desk were for assistance from staff who found themselves unexpectedly at home, luckily for those businesses we were very quickly able to get staff logged on and working. With today’s technology there is no reason why employees shouldn’t be able to work from home when the need arises.”
