High-Tech Business Centre is New Connection for Digital Phone Company

A new Rotherham company aims to help businesses beat the credit crunch – and at the same time carve out its own successful communications niche.

Nigel Short and Kerry Goding have created Voot Mobile, to deliver cost-effective and efficient mobile phone and broadband solutions to businesses in Rotherham and across the country.

To do that, they have joined the growing number of people moving out of their home-based offices and into the borough’s purpose-built, low-cost, modern business centres – in their case, the newly opened £5m Fusion@Magna, at Templeborough, near the M1.

Nigel Short said: “We aren’t a typical mobile phone supplier. We promise our customers high standards of consultancy and with over 30 years’ experience in the industry between us, we know how important that is to cost-conscious small businesses that need the back up of excellent customer service. In the current climate, where companies are looking for ways to tackle the credit crunch, this is even more important.

“One of the big benefits is that because we’re independent we’re not fixed to pushing one network. It really is about finding the best supplier to fit the needs of the customer and that’s what sets us apart from the competition.”

The pair have worked for major mobile phone suppliers before launching Voot Mobile. Initially they ran the business from home but felt the time was right to take the next step and move to purpose-built premises.

Fusion@Magna, on the site of the former Templeborough Rolling Mill, next to Magna Science Adventure Centre, was more than 50% let even before it opened in August, and is being run by Rotherham Investment & Development Office (RiDO), the Borough Council’s regeneration arm.
