A spokesperson for Orange has confirmed a rise in text volumes over the festive season.
“On Christmas Day, Orange saw its customers send a record 115 million text messages, which is a 16% increase on Christmas Day 2008. 1.2 million picture messages were also sent on Christmas Day, an 11% increase on 2008. The main peak for texts and MMS sent was between 9am and midday on Christmas Day but there was also brief surge at midnight on Christmas Eve.”
