HP ProCurve now number two in the EMEA wireless LAN market

HP ProCurve Networking has taken the number two position in the enterprise wireless LAN market, in terms of unit shipments, in Europe the Middle East and Africa, according to a recent report by market research firm Dell’Oro Group. The shipments measured include enterprise access points.

In Dell’Oro Group data that reported only a slight port shipments increase for the majority of vendors of enterprise wireless LAN sales in EMEA, HP ProCurve’s unit shipments grew at a rate of 65.9 percent year-over-year from the fourth calendar quarter of 2007 to the same quarter of 2008. The EMEA industry rate for this period increased by 0.2 percent, according to the report.

This significant change in HP ProCurve’s leadership in the enterprise wireless LAN market demonstrates the successful integration of the Colubris portfolio (now HP ProCurve Mobility Solutions) since the acquisition of that WLAN vendor was completed on 1 October 2008.

“The successful and rapid integration underscores our dedication to leading the way in next-generation unified wired and wireless networks that customers demand,” said Lars Koelendorf, category manager, wireless networking for HP ProCurve in EMEA. “We are very happy to have gained this key position in EMEA and will continue to leverage our knowledge, expertise and product portfolio to our existing and new customers.”
