HR Award for Thus

Thus has announced that its Human Resources (HR) department has been named HR Team of the Year at the HR Network (Scotland) National Awards 2007. The awards are designed to recognise, acknowledge and reward achievement at all levels of the HR profession and this success demonstrates the THUS company wide commitment to supporting its most important asset, its people.

As Thus grows as a business, organically and through acquisition, the role of the HR team has been central to supporting business performance. The scale of growth in the last 12 months represented a 60% increase in headcount in the core Thus business. Maintaining clarity and consistency in policy and practice across the company has been important and, at a time of major change in the company, maintaining clear communication with staff has been crucial for the HR team. Their success in the last year was demonstrable through both financial and employee metrics and clearly quantifies the value of the team and its achievements.

Gillian Campbell, Director of Human Resources at Thus plc said, "Over the course of the last year the HR team has delivered strong results. Challenged with integrating two acquisitions while supporting organic growth from new business, the team’s response has been exceptional. Integration activities included consolidation of three employee forums, a phased programme of policy consolidation, widespread business restructuring, as well as the introduction of a new payroll and HR System, and a full job evaluation and benefits framework. Throughout this period, the team maintained its focus firmly on delivering value to the business and its employees and their performance has been outstanding.”
