The agreement with 20:20 Mobile Group covers distribution and fulfillment of Huawei devices across Western and Eastern Europe, as well as the Nordic markets.
20:20 Mobile will supply Huawei smartphones, tablets, mobile broadband dongles and mobile Wi-Fi hotspots to specialist and non-specialist channels, including network operators, MVNOs, mobile retailers, grocers and dedicated mobile and IT dealers.
Huawei is to introduce a range of smartphone and tablet devices in 2011 under its own brand, alongside its expanding supply of operator-branded devices. The agreement with 20:20 Mobile will enable Huawei to reach new consumer and business markets in Europe as it seeks to establish itself among the leading smartphone manufacturers.
Huawei Device Vice President Wang Jiading said: “Europe is a vitally important market for Huawei going forward. Huawei will launch a range of high-end smartphones and tablets under its own brand in 2011, and it is crucial for us to partner with a distributor who can expand our retail channels, and add real value to our proposition in the process.
“We selected 20:20 Mobile for its long track record and its leading expertise in supply and logistics in the handset and accessories market.”
20:20 Mobile Group Chief Executive Officer Meinie Oldersma said: “Huawei has led the mobile broadband revolution in Europe through supply of its USB dongles and mobile Wi-Fi hotspots.
“Its ambition for its brand in the smartphone and tablet markets is considerable. Its R&D resource and partnership-approach will distinguish it in the market as it moves forward. We are delighted to join with it at this exciting stage in the development of its portfolio and brand in Europe.”
The agreement was concluded at a ceremony at Huawei’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China, on June 8.
