Hyundai Mobile Europe launches in the UK

Networks & Network Services
Hyundai Mobile Europe has announced the launch of Hyundai Mobile UK. This announcement comes on the back of successful handset deployments with network operators including Pannon, the second largest operator in Hungary, Mobiltel in Slovenia and German operator, Eplus. In addition, further operator agreements are pending in Austria.

With the full backing of the Hyundai Corporation, together with a very strong brand heritage, Hyundai Mobile UK aims to reach a market share of three to 5% within five years.

Initially, Hyundai Mobile UK will be located at the Advantage Cellular distribution hub in Oxfordshire and will utilise its warehousing and logistics facility to ensure a seamless supply chain operation for the UK and Eire.

Director for Hyundai Mobile UK, Roland Prinz said: “The central location and ability to get set up immediately was the reason for selecting

the office within Advantage House and we can use the facilities here to provide physical stock within the territory, rather than suffer delays shipping from the Far East to our UK customers. We are now eager to meet with networks and distributors that have direct routes to market, especially those focusing on the retail sector.”

Norbert Winkler, the CEO of Hyundai Mobile Europe, commented: “Hyundai is one of the five biggest car manufacturers and is ranked seventy second in the world’s most valuable brands, which is bound to provide a positive image transfer to Hyundai mobiles. The excellent global sales contacts from Hyundai Corporation’s 120 distribution partners have already enabled us to build up a wide European sales network in just a few months. We are delighted to have now secured a base in the UK and look forward to developing the business in what is clearly one of the most important territories within Europe,” he added.

The company is currently selecting a limited number of candidates for roles within Hyundai Mobile UK, commencing with a head of sales responsible for networks and distributors. In addition, it is inviting potential business partners to view the product portfolio on the Hyundai Mobile stand (2D08) at the Mobile World Congress in February.

Hyundai Mobile focuses on innovations, niche products and mobiles for a broad, price-conscious target group. Ten to fifteen handset models are planned annually across Hyundai’s ‘Basic’, ‘Music’, ‘Lifestyle’ ‘Innovation’ and ‘Business’ product segments. Devices in the business sector (including Windows mobile operating system) are due for launch in the first half of 2009.
