Infoblox Gives Global Businesses Greater Network Control

Infoblox announced new offerings to give customers greater control of their corporate IT networks with increased security and availability. The new products enable global organisations to better manage the demands put on their networks by forces such as bring-your-own-device (BYOD), cloud computing, migration to IPv6 and the evolving cyber-threat landscape.

The new Infoblox DNS Firewall, Infoblox Security Device Controller, and Infoblox Trinzic 100 Network Edge Services Appliance deliver on the company’s strategy to help customers create a strategic control point in the network. The new products are integrated with the latest Infoblox portfolio of market-leading solutions for network control.

“The increasing demands created by mobile devices, virtualisation and private clouds, and business-critical risks associated with cyber-threats cannot be addressed by adding manual processes and increasing network bandwidth,” said Steve Nye, EVP Products & Strategy, Infoblox. “We believe better control of the network is the best way to achieve business agility and efficiency, and achieve greater security. Infoblox gives that control to our customers, enabling higher levels of availability, security, and automation in modern networks.”

Intelligent Malware Detection Secures Network

Malware threats continue to grow in volume and in sophistication, with many finding easier access into the enterprise on mobile and tablet devices. Once inside the firewall, malware can go undetected by legacy security approaches, exploiting Doman Name Systems (DNS) as a pathway to connect to a malicious destination or botnet controller. The new Infoblox DNS Firewall, an add-on option to the Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM) solution, is designed to prevent this from happening with up-to-date malware detection and automated flags for corporate IT teams.

Using a real-time, expert-generated malware data feed, Infoblox DNS Firewall automatically populates Infoblox recursive DNS servers with a current list of all known malicious domain names and IP addresses. When malware code or a user attempts to make a connection with a malicious destination, Infoblox DNS Firewall prevents the connection from happening, pinpoints the infected device and alerts IT teams so they can take appropriate action. The Infoblox DNS Firewall solution extends the Infoblox DNS technology, enabling customers to address a significant vulnerability that exists in their organisation.

Automated Security Device Control Streamlines Firewall Provisioning

Network security teams often struggle to keep pace with the volume and frequency of firewall changes needed to maintain a secure IT environment. Security device rule updates can be time-consuming, and many processes remain manual. The new Infoblox Security Device Controller streamlines access policy control and automates policy provisioning on security devices, freeing up valuable time for network security teams.

Instead of applying firewall rules to many devices individually, network security staff can now analyse, stage, test and provision changes automatically to a multi-vendor security device environment with the Infoblox Security Device Controller. Organisations with a high volume of firewall changes will save significant time and resources, as well as reduce errors. The single platform helps with tracking and compliance, as change logs are in a single place, and does not require specialist expertise of device-specific language and complex syntax.

Remote Branch Appliance Extends Control to the Edge of the Network

Organisations that require IP enabled devices at multiple remote locations – such as retail stores, hospitals, schools and hospitality sites – often struggle with managing IP-enabled devices at that network edge. Keeping these devices connected to the network can require complex IT hardware and expertise, and legacy branch networking gear often cannot supply network services if the central network goes down. The new Infoblox Trinzic 100 Network Edge Services Appliance is a low cost, easy to deploy appliance that provides highly reliable branch office network control without the need for specialised hardware or IT expertise.

By leveraging the Infoblox Grid technology, which links appliances together across a distributed enterprise, Trinzic 100 enables centralised control, high availability and easy maintenance. All configurations or changes can be made once from a central place and applied to all edge devices, those located at branch offices or remote locations. Centralised management and control allows an organisation to scale its network into the thousands without requiring technical expertise at each location.
