Birmingham-headquartered enterprise communications and IT specialist, Intercity Technology, has appointed former BAE Systems operations director, Charlie Blakemore, to assist in driving and delivering on the company’s ambitious growth strategy.
During his 34 years in the engineering and aerospace industry, Charlie has gained significant experience in leading operations and project management across changing environments as well as exploiting technology to deliver improved business performance.
Prior to his appointment, Charlie worked closely with the board as non-executive director for two and a half years, advising and contributing to the development of Intercity’s growth strategy.
Now chief operating officer, Charlie will be working to streamline and enhance the delivery of projects to both enterprise and SME customers, ensuring that Intercity’s first-class service is provided as efficiently as possible. Charlie will also be working closely with the HR department to optimise the recruitment and retention processes as the business grows.
Andrew Jackson, CEO at Intercity Technology commented: “Charlie’s experience dealing with operations and project management made him the ideal candidate to help take our business to the next level.
“Charlie’s energy and focus is infectious. It’s clear to see from his time as non-executive director, that he embodies everything we stand for at Intercity. We’re excited to see Charlie immersing himself completely into sharpening and efficiently scaling the business over the next few years.”
Commenting on his appointment, Charlie Blakemore said: “Intercity’s success is testament to technical solutions designed with the user in mind. That said, the company’s most important asset is its people. Intercity holds its customers and employees at heart of everything it does, and this is a value that I really admire.
“It’s an exciting time for the organisation and I’m looking forward to continuing my journey internally to develop project and operations performance and accelerate the business’ growth strategy.”
