Keele University School of Pharmacy which operates the website for the NHS National Prescribing Centre, has selected ISP Internet Central Ltd, over its incumbent supplier to provide a dedicated hosting solution.
Impressed by the flexibility of package offered by Internet Central, the National Prescribing Centre website (NPCi) www.npci.org.uk is a new and radically different NHS learning resource designed specifically for busy health care professionals and managers. The content covers prescribing, therapeutics and medicines management and is laid out as a virtual building.
The School of Pharmacy recognised that an effective hosting strategy would be central to its continued success and needed a hosting solution that would be reliable, quick and flexible to the needs of the NPC. It commissioned Internet Central to undertake a comprehensive re-evaluation of its hosting services and was impressed by the way in which Internet Central were able to provide a package wasn’t just an off the shelf solution.
Because The School of Pharmacy operates the National Prescribing Centre website which has stringent data and network security requirements, it needed to find a hosting provider to help them meet those standards. Moreover, it needed a partner to help exceed clients’ expectations that their confidential data would be kept safe and secure.
Commenting on the service provided Keele University School of Pharmacy, IT Development Director, Luke Bracegirdle said “It was important to find a hosting provider that could provide a support package that was focused on both our requirements and the customer/end user requirements. We also needed to guarantee network safety and security while also giving us a personalised service. Most hosting companies offer a closed box solution but Internet Central were able to provide a bespoke service as well as offering a proven track record of reliability and excellent customer service. As a strategic project, security and flexibility were the key factors in the decision making process and this led us to outsource the management and support of the website infrastructure to Internet Central. They had all the required credentials with a proven capability and track record in operating and managing high availability business critical web applications for some of the UK’s leading companies.”
Internet Central will provide The School of Pharmacy with a fully managed hosting infrastructure which includes rack space, power, dedicated internet bandwith, a dedicated server, managed firewall, and intrusion detection.
Ian Rowley Sales and Marketing Director at Internet Central commented: “We are proud that The School of Pharmacy approached us. This project has been very exciting and rewarding.
