Interoute Awards Triumph

Interoute has won best business and consumer innovation at the Global Telecoms Business Awards, held in Central London on 17 September. The award for innovation came in the voice/data convergence category, and was presented to Interoute Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Matthew Finnie for the company’s unified communications platform, Interoute One.

Interoute One brings easy to use unified communications to organisations across Europe, with its drastically reduced call costs, slashed migration time to VoIP-based telephony and complete security. Interoute enables companies using Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005 or Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 to form the world’s biggest business community, sharing secure Instant Messaging (IM), presence and video calls across corporate networks.

Using the Interoute network, which stretches between 85 cities in 22 countries, companies using Microsoft’s unified communications software can interconnect in a unified, free speaking community without any additional infrastructure.

“Unified Communications is the next big thing in the telecommunications sector, and is going to revolutionise the way we all communicate in the workplace,” said Matthew Finnie, CTO, Interoute. “Interoute One makes corporate voice calls as easy to manage and as cost effective as email, and to have it singled out and commended for such innovation above the many competitors at such a prestigious industry awards is praise indeed, and we are truly proud to have won.”
