ipcortex and Polycom simplify deployment of business multimedia phones with zero touch auto provisioning

ipcortex, the British, standards-based UC vendor, have announced that zero touch auto provisioning is now available for the VVX 500, the newest addition to Polycom’s business media phone range. Believed to be the first open PBX to offer such complete provisioning functionality, the development radically simplifies the process of deploying the high performance, touch screen media phones in an open standards environment.

ipcortex CEO Rob Pickering commented, “We’re delighted to be able to add the VVX 500 to the list of devices that auto provision with our system. As the industry speculates about the future of the desk phone, and the impact of the emerging BYOD trend, handset vendors need to commit to innovation if desk phones are to remain relevant and useful. Polycom are clearly demonstrating this commitment with the VVX range and the affordable VVX 500, which I believe has moved the goal posts for desk phone development. Many of our resellers have been very quick to add the VVX 500 to their demo environments and we’re already seeing them quoted into a number of our larger, 300+ user opportunities, where the auto provisioning makes a staggering difference to the time taken to deploy the system.”

Polycom EMEA, director of IP Telephony sales, Chris Wortt, added “Polycom are pleased with the innovative “ease of use” initiatives ipcortex are bringing to the IP telephony market. ipcortex are a strong Polycom partner in the UK. The combination of ipcortex’ standards based SIP Call control and the VVX500, Polycom’s next generation, gesture based business media phone, will deliver real value to customers who want to take advantage of robust, feature rich call control capabilities. Moving forward ipcortex and Polycom will be enabling video collaboration via the VVX500 and Real Time Applications such as social media and business management tools including CRM and Communications Enabled Business Process via the touch interface of the VVX500.”
