Reading based 5i has been working with Cisco Resellers for the last four years to support them in the delivery of IP Communications to their customers. They have now launched IPFX stating that 5i has always been and always will be a Cisco services house. IPFX adds significant value to their SMB offering.
IPFX Director offers a single, affordable unified communications appliance that operates with Cisco Switches, Routers and handsets. The Director offers a range of integrated applications including:
o Voicemail and unified messaging
o Telephony control from within Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes
o PC Operator console
o Auto Attendant and IVR
o Contact centre – multimedia and web
o Call Recording
o Remote worker support
o Unified management console
o SIP support

Working in a Cisco environment means a best of breed solution – best networking solutions, best telephony handsets and the best suite of applications. Additionally new Cisco SIP Handsets will be supported therefore reducing further the cost of ownership. This will be a very attractive proposition to the reseller community especially those who have already invested in Cisco Call Manager Express accreditation and training.
Director is a true IP Communications appliance that delivers Corporate and Enterprise functionality to companies with between 25 and 250 employees who are looking for more than basic telephony and voicemail. Desktop functionality is embedded within the mail client minimising the amount of user training required.”
IPFX also offers compatible solutions in the Corporate and Enterprise space. Currently the 5i focus will be in the SMB sector as it already supports Cisco’s IPCC Express and Zeacom in these sectors.
Howells says that IPFX Director will appeal to resellers who wish to sell strategically to its customers and will include a mix of Voice, Data and Systems (ICT) resellers.
“Cisco SMB resellers have already shown interest however the product will also be of interest to other resellers who wish to increase sales in the sector and who are looking for a more feature rich solution for its more sophisticated SMB customers.
Resellers who view IPFX Director as a Unified Communications Appliance and not as an IP-PBX offering will be able to sell a differentiated product with a significant opportunity for increased revenues and margin.”
5i will provide a suite of implementation and support services however a reseller may wish to add these service revenue streams to its portfolio over a period of time. The choice will be theirs. 5i are seeking resellers in all areas of the country and have already entered into agreements with a number of companies in readiness for a launch in April.
