Julia's a Driving Force for Windsor Telecom

Julia Porter, Head of customer services at Poole-based telecommunications company, Windsor Telecom, has achieved a position among the last 100 to compete in the next stage of the annual Formula Woman Championship.

Having made it through the preliminary rounds, and selected out of 1300 individuals, Julia will now go through a tough 'elimination camp' at the end of June. She will be competing for a place in the final 16, who go forward to race in the 2007 Novice Championship.

This will be run over 8 races throughout the summer at circuits across the UK including Brands Hatch, Snetterton, and home of the British Grand Prix, Silverstone.

Formula Woman is designed to attract and assist more women to enter the previously male-dominated arena of motor sport and is the only female motor racing Championship in the country. Founded in 2004, two successful Championships have been run for female drivers and a Guinness World record has been broken for the most women competing in a motor racing event.

Windsor Telecom is supporting Julia in her motor racing quest and hopes the driven approach to her role within the business will be matched on the track. Julia says: "I have always loved driving and messing about with cars and would really like to take this as far as I can. This is my first dabbling in motor sport but I have loved undertaking track days in my Lotus Exige and enjoy the many benefits of driving on a track compared to the road. I hope to fly the Windsor Telecom flag whilst earning my place in the final 16 - it would be wonderful to make it to those big races at Silverstone this summer!"

In addition to Windsor Telecom, Julia is keen to attract further sponsorship from other organisations. To get involved, please contact Julia Porter to discuss opportunities on julia@windsor-telecom.co.uk
